Discover the joyful grin that launched our mission. Tyson, Brian's beloved dog, was the spark behind Tyson 'n Friends Rescue. His radiant smile and boundless enthusiasm for life ignited our passion to ensure every dog finds a nurturing and secure forever home.

Bryan

Founder & CEO of Tyson n Friends

Affectionately dubbed Captain Obvious by those who know me best, I wholeheartedly embrace my roles as the Founder and CEO of Tyson n Friends (TNF) with a profound sense of pride and purpose. My journey to this point is deeply reflective of the very essence of the bullies we champion—a journey often marred by misconceptions, premature judgments, and the occasional uphill battle for acceptance. This path, while challenging, has been incredibly rewarding, as it underscores the vital importance of empathy, understanding, and advocacy in our collective mission to transform perceptions and foster a more inclusive world for our four-legged friends.

Growing up, I was fortunate enough to be immersed in a family legacy rich in animal advocacy and rescue, a foundation that has significantly shaped my character and my life's work. From a young age, I was taught the value of compassion and the importance of standing up for those who cannot speak for themselves. This upbringing has been instrumental in honing my expertise in behavioural analysis over the years, allowing me to connect with and understand the unique needs and personalities of each bully we rescue. It's this deep-seated understanding and connection that fuels my passion and drives our mission at TNF forward.

In my daily role, I am honored to hold the esteemed title of the "Spooner" for our beloved rescued bullies. This unique title reflects the special bond I share with each of our rescues, emphasizing the importance of physical affection and comfort in their rehabilitation and overall well-being. My dedication to their joy and welfare truly knows no bounds, as I firmly believe in the transformative power of love and care in healing even the deepest of wounds. Each day, I am privileged to witness the incredible resilience and capacity for love these bullies possess, further reinforcing my commitment to our cause and the broader mission of TNF.

In every aspect of my work, I strive to lead by example, embodying the values of empathy, kindness, and relentless advocacy that are the cornerstones of TNF. It is my hope that by sharing our stories and the journeys of the bullies we champion, we can inspire others to join us in our mission to create a more compassionate and understanding world for all. Together, we can challenge and change the narratives surrounding these misunderstood creatures, one rescue at a time.

Don Cherry

Don Cherry's Pet Rescue - link to review

As you read the stories about these rescue organizations and their history, you get to see a common denominator in a lot of them and that is it all starts with one animal touching a person to the core.
Don Cherry the Founder of this Foundation had his Bull Terrier Blue. Cindy Cherry, Don’s daughter and President of his Foundation had Lucy. (For Lucy’s rescue story, click here>>

For the Founder of Tyson N Friends’ Brian Ferreira it was an American Staffordshire Terrier named of course Tyson. Little did he know some 20 years ago, that this little dog would start him on a journey of love, pit bull advocating and dog rescuing. Tyson was a gentle soul, full of character, full of love and changed the lives of everyone he encountered.

Tyson N Friends is a small non-profit organization run by one of Tyson’s owners Brian Ferreira. A long with his incredible team of volunteers and other animal advocates, they work together in their spare time to save lives, bring back to health and re-home abandoned and abused animals. They rescue all breeds of dogs not only the bully breeds. Plus, as you can see by this picture with Brian, they have a soft spot for all animals in need, as seen in these 2 rescued kittens. No doubt they will need vet care, all of which costs money. So, it is with much pleasure that when they have a fundraiser, we are there with lots of Don Cherry memorabilia. Not only do we contribute to their events, we also support them when the vet bills get to be overwhelming.

Marley

IMG_0250I saw the picture of my Marley in July of 2019, I was the first one to comment on it and said “She’s beautiful. We want her. What do we do?”
Our other dog had just recovered from TPLO surgery and was just given the go ahead to play and I hadn’t discussed it with my husband. I just commented on the picture. She was my dog.
We adopted Marley (Juju) in 2019. Brian loved the name ‘Juju’ so of course he gave some pushback when we said her name would be ‘Marley’, her brother’s name is Brando. How could we miss that opportunity? Marley… Brando… C’mon!
So Marley she was and she came home.
Brian had warned us, after doing his assessments and work with her, as he does with all of his rescues, that she had some issues with men. He told us that his phone was always on and if we ever needed him he would be there.
We took this terrified, scarred dog home and we were determined to make it work.
It did… but not without bumps in the road.
Marleys history was unknown but from the scars and where she was found they could piece together something that we hoped wasn’t as awful as our imaginations made them out to be, but always knew was way worse. She just had a litter of puppies before they found her, the puppies were not with her. She searched for them for a long time.
It was August when she bit for the first time. It was someone coming into the house to see us. We had no idea that she was going to react in such a way. Luckily it was a friend of ours and the bite wasn’t bad.
The next bite was October. She bit my Mother in Law when she hugged my son. We were all mortified and terrified of what was coming next.
I messaged Brian and my phone rang immediately. He told me to take a breath and that there was hope.
Brian saved Marley twice.
We ended up training her and taking a lot of precautions and kept people safe when they came on our property or in our house.
Rescue dogs come with a suitcase that they’re always unpacking. Some of it is clean panties and some of them are dirty panties but all of the panties are theirs and they wear them well.
Marley passed away very suddenly on November 3 last year and Brian cried with me. He lost as we did.
If it wasn’t for the happenstance of meeting Brian I would have never known what it was like to have a “Heart Dog”.
Thank you Brian.

Karl

IMG_0106We've been supporters of Brian for years, assisting him with fostering, transportation, and any other help needed. Losing our beloved dog in January 2024 left a painful void in our lives. Brian reached out with heartfelt condolences, and a few months later, seeking to fill the silence, we decided to adopt again. Brian was instrumental in this, introducing us to a litter of pups ready for adoption. After a three-hour drive, we brought home Karl, who has brought immense joy and filled the emptiness left by our previous dog. Brian is the only person we trust to board Karl with, knowing he'll receive exceptional care. Brian's commitment to animal rescue is evident in his daily life (demonstrated by his home full of unadoptable rescues), and his expertise with Bully breeds shines through in his careful placement of each dog. We are incredibly grateful to Brian for entrusting Karl to us.

Luca

IMG_0251We got our boy Luca from Brian and are so glad we did. Brian is awesome with his dogs and stands behind them even after adoption which is amazing. Brian is clearly doing this just for the good of the dogs. Amazing person!

Please note Tyson n Friends is a volunteer run rescue, replies may take several days.
